Our service provides private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding via Right to Choose. Our assessments cost include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A thorough assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be conducted by an experienced consultant Psychiatrist. This includes a complete medical history and an evaluation using the typical ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your evaluation After your assessment, you will be informed if medication would be beneficial for your specific situation. This will happen at your follow-up appointment (which can be done in person by video link, in person or via phone). Your doctor will explain the different options available for you to take medication and if you decide to start on medication we will offer to titrate the dose to optimise the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This is a process which can take several weeks, and involves adjusting your child's medication gradually until the proper balance is achieved. It's not uncommon to need to adjust three or four medications before determining the most effective one for your child's ADHD symptoms. Parents must take part in this process of titration and keep an eye on their child's behavior to let the doctor know whether the medication is working or causing side effects.

If you decide to return to NHS treatment, you will receive an individual prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay for your prescription at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation cost. You must attend six monthly appointments to monitor your medication - this includes pulse and blood pressure readings. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the assessment is complete and you are satisfied, you can schedule follow-up appointments with your psychiatrist. The appointment usually takes place via a zoom video call however in some instances it what is titration adhd possible to have an audio-only consultation (again at an extra cost).

At this point, we will discuss any treatment options we have and decide on a custom-made ADHD medication titration strategy. This will include an assessment of your medication dosage and an examination of any adverse effects you may be experiencing. The cost for these titration consultations is PS150 for face to face sessions and PS60 for telephone or online video consultations. The cost of medication is additional and are paid directly to the pharmacy.

This is due to the fact that ADHD is a genetic condition and it is crucial to examine any family history that may indicate that you're at risk of developing the disorder.

During this examination, it is crucial that you are truthful and open with the doctor, as they will use the information you provide to determine whether you are able to meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD. This can be done within the first few days of your diagnosis if you are eager to begin treatment immediately or within two weeks if prefer to take time to think about the implications of your diagnosis and the possibilities that are available to you.

We suggest that if you are unsure about your preferences, you speak with your GP prior to booking your private appointment. Some providers have different policies on whether they require the submission of a GP letter. We also suggest to check if your GP accepts a "Shared-Care Agreement that means that after you have been discharged from the clinic you will be returned to them for the prescription for the medication.

Medication

For many who wish to obtain an official diagnosis of adhd medication titration medication is an important part of their journey.
