Easy to install

Fiat 500 key covers can be a great option to modernize your keys. They come in a range of styles and colors so you'll be able to find the perfect style to match your personal style. You can install them yourself within ten minutes. You'll require a screwdriver and some patience. The first step is to remove the original cover from your key. This has to be removed before the new cover can be put in place.

After removing the old cover Use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the four major attachment clips on the side that is on the passenger side of the fob assembly. These are marked in my Area red on the image below. Also, note the tabs for locating slots in yellow that require disengagement as well.

After removing the battery replace it with a brand new CR2032 3 volt coin cell battery. Make sure that the "+" positive side of the battery is pointing to the opening on the fob, and that the -" negative side is facing the buttons made of rubber.

Replace the cover of the passenger's side mirror by aligning locating tabs. Once you've completed this, put the fob on the driver's side in your car and test it by pressing the button on the front of the car key. If everything works correctly your car should start to turn on the parking lights, and the doors will lock automatically.

After removing the metal keys there is an unassuming silver metal switch that displays images of a padlock locked and unlocked beside it. This is the key fob battery switch. The battery is easy to replace by turning the switch for a quarter turn with a flathead screwdriver.

The key fob houses a microchip which communicates with the Body Control Module. When you insert the key in your fiat punto car key key fob, it press the ignition switch, which functions as a "key-in-ignition" reminder. The BCM can then read the transponder on the key fob to confirm that it's valid.

You can also add a design twin pack to your key covers to give it a unique and funky look. These covers snap on top of your original cover. They are available in Cream or Silver. The key cover is only functional when you remove the black cover from your key fob.
