About Toto

Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also well-known studio players working with Boz Scaggs) and bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The third album from Toto, Turn Back, was not a success in 1981. However they made amends with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two hit songs including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour make them a household name throughout the world.

After a break of couple of years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in the year 1986. It's a change from the ballads of previous albums and includes some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.

When they record the band's fifth album the band loses their manager and are financially in trouble. They decide to change their name and create a new album with a new producer. It was the first time in 31 year that all Toto's original members performed together. The original group was joined by keyboardist Greg Tambu who filled in for Paich, and bassist David Hungate who filled in for Shem von Schroeck.
