Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Mulliner Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding unit, has designed a unique keycase to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Bentley brand. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying "B" paperweight, a set keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

As a design-oriented company Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It is evident in the precise placement of its quilting, the use of leather made from by-products of cattle as well as the sustainable management of forests, and the unique patterns of its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you approach it and showcases its stunning sculptural design and power by carefully curated lighting.

The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever built. Its rear tonneau, as an example, showcased the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to the production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

It is this bespoke design, attention to detail and craftsmanship to detail that has established Bentley as the world's most sought-after car brand. The company continues to push boundaries with the latest technology and workmanship, such as the introduction of an instrument cluster that is digital and an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof and a crafted docking station for Apple iPads, and electrochromic glass that can be switched between opaque and transparent at the touch of a button.

Bentley celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, one hundred years after it was established. The marque, which is owned by Volkswagen without a partner following years of conflict with BMW, had planned a series of special launches and events to mark this significant occasion. Prior to the pandemic plan taking the center stage, the company was hosting a variety of special events and launches planned to celebrate this milestone event.

Design

Bentley is a luxury car maker that produces lavish and extravagant cars. But even the keys make a statement. The Bentayga key is made from sterling silver and features an enormous 'B' design which lets everyone know that you're a Bentley. It also has the years 1919 and 2019 to commemorate the company's centenary.

Bentley Mulliner reinvented and designed the Mulsanne to be the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. The rear seats are designed to offer passengers unparalleled comfort and privacy. They were inspired by the luxurious private aircraft. The bespoke heating and ventilation system as well as the air conditioning system was created to give each passenger the ideal climate control settings.

The Mulsanne is equipped with a twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine with 560bhp and 479lb-ft of torque. This colossal power is complemented by a brand new suspension design that offers Bentley's hushed, quiet ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a unique specification known as the Centenary Specification for cars that were built in 2019. This includes contrast stitching and cross-stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered in Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a custom Bentley keycase to complete the Bentley experience.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne Key comes with two buttons: one that opens the trunk, and the second that is used to start the vehicle. It also has a button to turn on the parking break. The knob can be used to fold or unfold the mirrors if you are parking in a tight area. Using this feature can aid you in getting in and out of your vehicle more easily.

Each key takes two days to create. It is cut by hand and shaped, then sewn, sealed and polished to create an extremely high-end finish. It is strong, compact, and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar to the Volkswagen Phaeton's massive car key, but it feels heavier and more premium.

Secure-A-Key is also available to protect against keyless entry theft. The device is placed inside the remote-control key fob, and will shut it off after a few minutes of inactivity, which prevents thieves from transmitting the frequency of the key to other devices that are able to unlock and start the vehicle.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the company's values of excellence in craftsmanship and engineering expertise. It also includes cutting-edge technology. More than 4,000 employees work at its Crewe headquarters, which is responsible for the development, design, and production of Bentley automobiles. These workers apply the skills that have been handed through generations to current automotive technology. This is British manufacturing at its best.

Personalisation

Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to create their own car. The "mood station" allows guests to select images that inspire them. These can be anything from beautiful landscapes to sporting events. After each selection is made, a pattern is created which shows the models and colors of the customized bentley key programming.

The resulting configuration is loaded onto individual R.F.I.D.-enabled keys which are presented to guests in a custom key Bentley case. Keys can be adorned with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps, which illuminate the path of the opening door with the owner's logo or name as they approach the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours to construct and construct the Mulsanne. The unwillingness to embrace new technology is the key to this lengthy and laborious process. Instead of using a machine to place the perfectly matched cross-stitched leather seats, workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers must park their cars manually, instead of using the built-in sensors to direct them to parallel and perpendicular spots.

Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization abilities with a unique Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays tribute to William Osler, the founder of Bentley. Edition, which pays homage to the founder William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited edition cars include a key that displays an item from the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
