UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. It is crucial to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

This is particularly useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is further away from the door. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors that have a latch which can be operated with the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are generally employed on UPVC double glazed doors. They are available in a variety of variations and styles.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle an outstanding performance and long-lasting durability for its intended use.

All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles are supplied with a spindle and screws, allowing them to be put on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is usually an advantage when replacing an old aluminium window handles or damaged multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with a spring, which solves the issue of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when not being used.

It is important to ensure that the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement can also be called 'handle centre or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the correct handles.

Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. The cylinder lock is operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles will receive. Doors that are external, for instance are required to be fitted with higher security cylinders and doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features which can enhance security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place, but when this isn't possible, you may remove it to measure. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon may be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is essential that it is not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This will help to stop the attack and protect your doors.

There are also cylinders constructed to withstand snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the lock's break line and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is faster and easier to achieve than opening a multipoint lock and leaves little evidence of a break-in which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of your door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after using. There was a time when handles of this kind did not have a spring built into them and without this they are more likely to slide or drop once the locking mechanism is removed. This simple component is the best way to solve this issue. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in the open or closed position since they aren't easy to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung and you'll need to cut a hole in your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please check the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
