3 Wheeler Buggies

A three-wheeler is ideal for rough terrain and provides the most comfortable ride for your baby. They are also easier to push and manoeuvre than a four-wheel buggy, particularly those with fabric slings or modular seat units that are positioned tightly in the frame and deliver the most efficient design and weight distribution.

Weight

If you're seeking a buggy that will take on tricky terrain then you want one with big wheels. They are designed to tackle grass, cobbles and dirt tracks with ease and still provide an enjoyable ride. They're also good for jogging because they come with suspension and are simple to get up and down kerbs. However, the downside is that they are quite heavy to push.

Fabric slings are set in the frame, not on top like modular seats. This design delivers an lower centre of gravity at the perfect height, making it easier to push and lighter to pop the kerb (you cannot overestimate how often you'll do this when you're a new parent!)

Seating

There are a variety of options for seating in three wheelers. The carrycot included is ideal for a baby (which MFM reviewer Alice describes as a comfortable and cosy lying-flat bed that can be used both in and out of the buggy). Older children and toddlers will love the spacious and padded seat unit with adjustable ventilation. It is important to note that the seats do not recline completely however they can be adjusted to the lowest position which will give your child plenty of headroom and space to move around.

A sling made of fabric is also available. It is advantageous in that it is located inside the frame, instead of being placed on top of it as a seat that is modular. This creates a lower center of gravity with perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier to push, especially on bumpy terrain or over curbs. MFM reviewer Kath liked the way this type of seat dealt with the obstacles.

This type of buggy comes with a large basket and other features that are useful such as an extendable hood with 50+ UV protection, a simple to use brake pedal, and some unique visibility lights which can be put in front of occupants to ensure safety when riding on rough terrain.

Storage

The 3-wheeled frame makes the buggy more stable and sturdy to push one-handed and is also ideal for handling rough terrain. The shopping basket is smaller than a four-wheeler.

A good quality ATP will have excellent suspension, pneumatic tyres and padding for the handle to ensure your convenience. It is also equipped with car seats and a carrycot which means you can use it from birth.

MFM's reviewers have noticed that the 3 wheel all terrain buggy-wheeler frame won't fit through all the doors in their homes or small car boots - make sure to check the dimensions of the buggy once it's folded before buying if you're worried about space.

Choose a 3-wheeler with 2 (or 3 wheel baby stroller (Murakamilab.tuis.Ac.jp)!) seats. seats once your family grows. These are the most efficient of both and future proof your money. The iCandy strawberry sport is among the best of these that can be used as a single seat from day dot and then converts into twin buggies once your baby starts walking.

Tyres

These tyres absorb bumps and uneven surfaces to make your child's ride more enjoyable. They are commonly found on pushchairs like the Phil and Ted's Sport which MFM reviewer Kath found to be "an outstanding ride for my toddler". She also mentioned that the grippy tires of the Phil & Ted's Sport made it simple for her to negotiate kerbs and other obstacles.

They can be difficult to maintain their inflation and need to be topped up frequently. They are also more vulnerable to punctures than foam tyres, so you'll need to make sure that you have a repair kit along with a spare inner tube and pump on hand when you are you're out and about in your buggy.

The downside of this is that the foam may expand and cause your buggy to appear less stable because it loses its springy quality. These tyres are also noisy, as they make a lot noise when you turn and drive around the town.
