Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon Brothers

How did they become gods?

Both brothers can smite their opponents with lightning and thunder. Both brothers are able to alter their appearance. This lets them communicate with mortals on a more human level. They can also regulate the weather, and they are both very powerful in the sea.

The most popular story about the pair is their love affair with Persephone. She was the daughter of Demeter and Zeus and was kidnapped by Hades. Hades was enthralled by her despite her initially reluctance. Hades struck a deal with her. He would let her return to his underworld if she spent just a fraction each year with him.

This was not an easy task as Persephone was entangled with her life on earth, and was incredibly hesitant to return to her father's world. In the end, she accepted the terms of the agreement. Hades was capable of traveling above ground a handful of times.

She was a pious lady however she did have some relationships with Zeus, the husband of her sister. She had children both with mortals and nymphs, including Triton and Theseus.
